Two JBL Link Portable speakers can be used to create a speaker group in the Google Home Application which would allow streaming the audio content to both units simultaneously. The JBL Link range of speakers has been designed to be integrated with Google Home and Assistant at all levels, and this is one of the main selling points we have put accross for the range of products. As such, there is no way to full disable Google Assistant integration.

Your devices where you’ve set up your Google Assistant need to be connected to the internet for the Assistant to work. Since the Google Assistant is set up in your Link Portable speaker, your speaker needs to be connected to the internet for the Assistant to work. In the case of your other Bluetooth speakers, they are only acting as the output device or Bluetooth accessory. Your phone still needs to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Data for the Assistant to work.

There's no harm in using the unit while it is connected to a power source and you can use it as a powered speaker. Our JBL Link Portable has a PCM (Protection Circuit Module) and charge management IC built-in, that manages and detects when charging the unit. Once the unit is fully charged it will cut off the current to protect the battery. However, if you'd like to save energy, you may unplug the speaker. Also, avoid getting the charging cradle wet because you'll need to plug it into a power source.

The instructions don’t mention this step, but to first enable the speaker for ApplePlay you have connect to the speaker under WiFi, as if it were a wireless network. That then enables it to be used for airplay on the WiFi network you choose.

Our JBL Link Portable doesn't have a password for Bluetooth, Chromecast and Airplay. In your case, you may try these combinations: 1234, 0000, 1111. If none of them worked, please reach out to the manufacturer's support.

Our JBL Link Portable doesn't have an AUX input. It has to be set up through WiFi via the Google Home App to make use of its features such as Chromecast, Google Voice Assistant, and Bluetooth. We would recommend our other portable speakers which you can use without an internet connection. Simply connect your device via Bluetooth or aux (if available). Our JBL Link Portable has up to 8 hours of playtime when charged for 3.5 hours on the charging dock. You can use the speaker whether or not it is docked in the charging cradle.

Our JBL Link Portable can only be connected with other Link Speakers through Wifi via the Google Home App. Our JBL Flip 5 has PartyBoost and can only be connected with other speakers that have the same feature. Currently, only our Pulse and Boombox 2 have PartyBoost.

JBL Link Portable has Bluetooth capability and can be connected with any device that has Bluetooth. Thank you for your question. When connected as a stereo pair, the primary speaker (left) will be able to accept voice commands. If however, this is not happening with your speakers, the issue might be caused by limited network connectivity. Resetting your speaker and router and making sure that your speakers are not too close to your router might solve the issue. If you're having issues with setting up the new speakers on your new WiFi router, you may try resetting to factory settings. To do so, press and hold the microphone mute button for more than 15 seconds, the LED will blink one-time. Then, let go of the button, the unit will restart and you should hear the audible chime start-up tone indicating it's ready for set up.
